Little Cooks – Children’s recipes

This weekend was my birthday and my boyfriend’s daughter decided that she’s going to cook lunch for me! She’s nine so she is able to prepare some simple meals with my assistence.

We bought her a little children’s cookbook and she chose to prepare a sandwiches train for starters and colorful salad and chicken legs with honey and rosemary as main dish.

Chicken legs with honey and rosemary

This turned out to be delicious! Chicken legs were so soft, with rosemary and honey sent… We literally licked our fingers!

Here is the recipe!

1.  Wash the chicken legs and dry them with paper towel or with dish towel. Season them with salt and pepper.

2. Heat the butter in a large pan.

3.  Once the butter is soft, place all other ingredients in the pan – chicken legs, 3 calves of garlic, 3 spoons of honey, 1/4 cup of water and all the spices.

4. Stir every 3-4 minutes and add water if needed. Let it cook for 40-50 minutes on low fire.

8 chicken legs

3 spoons of honey

2 spoons of butter

3 calves of garlic

1 spoon of rosemary

1 spoon of red pepper

a pinch of turmeric

Preparation time: 60 minutes

Serves: 4

Difficulty: Medium

We have served the chicken legs with rice and colorful salad made of green salad, feta cheese, tomatoes and raspberries (yes, raspberries) 🙂

Sandwiches train

This is a great recipe for children because it is easy to prepare and they are so excited about decorating the sandwiches in shapes of train wagons. We just put butter on bread slices and then put ham, cheese, tomatoes, salad, olives on them trying to shape wheels and windows. Locomotive had a chimney made of cucumbers and, of course, smoke coming out of the chimney 🙂

Enjoy and have fun while cooking!
