Spending a week or two on a sailing boat is my favorite type of vacation. Since we keep our sailing boat in Tunarica bay (east Istria) we have travelled the islands in north Adriatic many times.
All my life I watch my father diving and catching fish. It looks so easy, he put on his diving suit, flippers and mask, takes the spear gun into his arms and jumps into the sea. After couple of hours he is back with crabs, shells, octopus and fish. Depends of the territory and our wishes, of course :).
If you visited Istria or Dalmatia you probably noticed many dry stone walls and small stone houses. These structures are made only of natural stone, without any mortar.
Yesterday we had a perfect day! My sister and her family came home and we went sailing with their sailboat. The weather was sunny and hot but still enough windy... we just couldn't ask for more.
Hello, Saturday! We prepared fish in the oven today. We decided to eat gilthead sea bream in the oven for lunch, fish soup and cooked fish for dinner and salmon tomorrow, as a beginning of our diet (getting ready for the beach). 🙂 While the fish was being baked, my boyfriend prepared a tasty appetizer. …
Mediterranean area is full of green asparagus... they are very healthy and of course delicious.
I prefer sunset over sunrise, but that's just because I like that it calms down, while the sunrise brings you up with the day awakening. And I also like to sleep so I did not have the chance to see so many times sun to rise. Although, I love those calm fresh mornings on the boat.
Don't you just love bruschette? I adore them 'cause they are easy to make, you can use them as an cool appetizer and even if your fridge is almost empty, you can always find sth to work with.
Recently we visited Porto, the second largest city in Portugal, after Lisbon, and one of the oldest European centres. It's located along the Douro river estuary in northern part of the country and it's best known for it's delicious wine of the same name that's been produced only in this region.
In my previous post about making wine we finished with the harvest, crushed the grapes and put everything in barrels. I'll write about two methods of fermentation: classic and cold fermentation.
